MySQL version 5.1.61 has been ported (2/4/2012) to OS/2. The MySQL database server is the world's most widely used open source database. The OS/2 port features named pipes, data replication, >2GB databases, and more. There is a mailing list for discussion. From VOICE News.


Paul Smedley has released (2/4/2012) an OS/2 build of PHP 5.3.10; modules supported include bz2, curl, dbase, exif, filepro, gd, gettext, mbstring, mysql, mysqli, openssl, pdo_mysql, pdo_sqlite, pgsql, and sqlite. An updated version of MPlayer has been released (2/3/2012), which has support for Win32 codecs, UniAud, DIVE, SNAP video overlays, and WarpOverlay. There is a browser plugin included, as well as MEncoder, a simple movie encoder. Most MPEG/VOB, AVI, Ogg/OGM, VIVO, ASF/WMA/WMV, QT/MOV/MP4, RealMedia, Matroska, NUT, NuppelVideo, FLI, YUV4MPEG, WebM, and more are supported.


K Movie Player version 0.7.0 has been released (2/3/2012). This is a video player based on FFPlay, without SDL dependencies and support for DIVE, SNAP video overlays, and WarpOverlay.


Paul Smedley has released (2/3/2012) an OS/2 port of Apache version 2.2.22. Apache is the premiere web server of the Internet. From VOICE News.


x264 version 0.119.x has been ported (2/3/2012) to OS/2. This is a H.264 (MPEG4 AVC) encoder library, and is used in software like MPlayer.


Qt Creator version 2.2.1 has been ported (9/17/2011) to OS/2; also available (2/3/2012) are the Artistic Style plugin version 0.6.0 and the QML Designer plugin version 2.2.1. This multiplatform Qt Integrated Development Environment features a C and JavaScript code editor, integrated UI designer, project and build management tools, support for version control, and more.


libkva version 1.2.0 has been released (2/2/2012). This is a library for displaying video streams, which supports SNAP video overlays, WarpOverlay!, and DIVE. It has been used in KMP, MPlayer, and VLC.


libvpx version 1.0.0 has been ported (2/2/2012) to OS/2. This is Google's WebM library, an open source, royalty free media file format designed for the web.


MP3Diags version 1.1.12.068 has been ported (2/2/2012) to OS/2. This Qt4 app is for managing information in MP3 files.


NYAOS versions 3.2.0_2 and 3.3.0_2 have been released (2/2/2012). This is an enhanced command line shell, which has some similarities to tcsh.


drman version 1.2.3 has been released (2/2/2012). This is a Drag and Drop enabled file reader for help files in the Linux man format.


Tanglet version 1.2.1 has been ported (2/1/2012) to OS/2. This is a word finding game based on Boggle, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


ClamAV GUI version 2.4.0 has been released (2/1/2012). This is a GUI front-end for configuring and running the ClamAV anti-virus program, which bundles an XPI for integration with Thunderbird. Also available is ClamAVM, a monitoring and scheduling interface.


A WarpIn package of ClamAV version 0.97.3 has been released; another port of ClamAV is available in RPM format. This is a GPL anti-virus toolkit, which features a command line scanner, a tool for automatic updating via the Internet, and integration with mail servers (attachment scanning).


jEdit version 4.5.0 has been released (1/31/2012). This is a programmer's text editor with many features, which requires Java 1.6.


BillardGL version 1.7 has been ported (1/31/2012) to OS/2. This is an OpenGL pool / billiards simulation. From VOICE News.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/31/2012) to OS/2, including: Qlipper version 2.0.0 is a clipboard history applet; and QuiteRSS version 0.8.0 is a RSS/Atom feed reader.


OGFVIEWER / MESHTOOL has been updated (1/31/2012) to version 1.0.5. This is a cross platform toolkit for viewing and converting 3D models from Autodesk 3DStudio MAX 3DS and game engines like X-Ray (GSC S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series) and MSH (Orion engine v1 MSH - Stalin Subway, Red Veil). It works with the old IBM OpenGL 1.1. The latest version can be found on this Russian forum.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/30/2012) to OS/2, including: Cscreenie version 1.1.9 is a screenshot utility; QIViewer version 0.5.0 is a small image viewer; diffimg version 1.2.1 is a simple image comparison tool; and syncwall version 1.2.1 is a wallpaper changing program.


photo version 0.5.02 has been released (1/30/2012). This is a fast and simple, yet powerful and highly configurable image viewer, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/29/2012) to OS/2, including: Basqet version 0.2.0 is for taking notes; HolyServices version 1.0.0.21 offers calendar-like planning of holy services for small parishes, with connections to iCal supporting time-organizers; BiblioteQ version 6.5.3 is a library management suite; MccHTMLMapper version 0.3 is for creating image maps; fleetingpm version 2.7 is a tool for generating and managing passwords; and MultifileDetector version 1.8.1 is a duplicate file finder.


ClipView version 3.4 has been released (1/3/2012). This is a set of tools to provide and work with multiple clipboards, including ClipPrint, PipeClip, ClipPipe, and more. There is even cross-platform client/server clipboard support. Thanks to Dave Saville for the news.


bootAble version 6.8 has been released (1/28/2012). This is a script which can be used to create a maintenance partition or bootable CD with enough facilities to fully manage and recover your system. It contains support for LVM, HPFS, JFS, FAT32, UDF, and the CD file system. From VOICE News.


Some multimedia libraries have been ported (1/28/2012) to OS/2: LIVE555 Streaming Media 2012.01.26, a RTSP streaming library; libmatroska version 1.3.0 is for parsing Matroska audio and video containers; and libebml version 1.2.2 parses EBML files. These are used by the VLC media player.


Form History Control version 1.2.10.2 has been released (1/28/2012). This is a Mozilla extension that allows you to manage the form data saved by your web browser.


BORG version 1.7.6.3 has been released (1/28/2012). This is a combination calendar and task tracking system; which requires Java 1.6.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/26/2012) to OS/2, including: Crosti version 1.5.1 is for making cross stitch patterns from an image file; and Qoobar version 1.5.0 is a tag editor for music files, such as MP3 and Ogg Vorbis.


Simsu version 1.2.2 has been ported (1/25/2012) to OS/2. This is a version of the Sudoku game, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


JExpress version 7.9.4 has been released (1/25/2012). This lets you create Java-based multilingual installers and auto-updaters. An easy to use Swing interface lets you design your installers quickly without requiring any programming. It can also select the exact classes your Java app uses, build your directory tree, and produce JAR files.


Samba client version 2.1.1 has been released (1/24/2012), based on Samba 3.3.16. Also available (11/25/2011) is version 2.2.0 beta 2, based on Samba 3.5.11. This is a plugin for the NetDrive Filesystem (or EVFS), which allows you to mount SMB or CIFS shares on OS/2 without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer).


Exiftool version 8.75 has been packaged (1/24/2012) for OS/2. This is a set of Perl modules plus an application script for reading and writing meta information in image, audio, video, and PDF files.


SmartGit version 2.1.7 has been released (1/23/2012). This is a Java GUI client for Git and SVN version control systems, with many features. It does not officially work with OpenJDK, but there have been recent fixes in Odin for this app.


shoppingList version 1.1a has been ported (1/23/2012) to OS/2. This Qt4 app is for planning and accounting of purchases.


MailRedirect version 0.7.6.9 has been released (1/22/2012). This Mozilla extension allows you to bounce / redirect email messages from Thunderbird and Seamonkey.


plzip version 0.8 has been ported (1/22/2012) to OS/2. This is a parallelizing version of the lzip lossless file compressor.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/22/2012) to OS/2, including: RSSGuard version 1.0.8 is a RSS and ATOM feed reader; qedit version 2.4.1 is a text editor based on NEdit; elogbook version 1.8.3 is for logging notes, comments, etc.; textool version 1.5.0 is a GUI for LaTeX documents; and Qtnp version 0.9.1 is a simple graphics editor.


Greggory Shaw released (1/22/2012) version 0.008 of his Firefox Drag&Drop install script. There's also another install script that includes support for deregistering the Mozilla apps from the Innotek Font Engine (which is unneeded and can cause crashes).


VX-REXX Extras library version 1.0.1 has been released (1/20/2012). This is an object and API library designed to extend the functionality of Watcom VX-REXX, which provides a Warp 4 style notebook control, a color selection dialog, and a few useful functions.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/20/2012) to OS/2, including: qftp version 1.3.2 is an FTP client; and taskbar version 2.4.6 is a program launcher.


Btrieve Commander has been updated (1/19/2012). This is a Btrieve file viewer / editor.


QXmlEdit version 0.6.2 has been ported (1/19/2012) to OS/2. This is a tree-based XML editor, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


Some experimental USB drivers have been updated (1/18/2012) to build 179, which feature improved hardware compatibility, including proper PCI PM (power management) support. This allows USB ports to be used when warm booting from Windows, which can sometimes leave them in a powered down state.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/18/2012) to OS/2, including: QWinFF version 0.1.0 is a GUI front end for converting audio and video files using FFmpeg; and Wally version 2.4.4 is for changing your desktop wallpaper using multiple sources.


Paul Smedley has released (1/17/2012) an OS/2 build of DVDAuthor version 0.7.0. This is a tool for generating DVD VIDEO structures from given mpeg2 files. From VOICE News.


MJpegtools version 2.0.0 has been ported (1/17/2012) to OS/2. This includes tools that can be used to help create DVDs (and DVD menus). From VOICE News.


FocusWriter version 1.3.5.2 has been ported (1/17/2012) to OS/2. This is a full-screen basic word processing program, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


eCups Printer GUI (aka cupswiz) version 0.94 (preview 4) has been released (1/16/2012). This is a user-friendly GUI for CUPS printer creation, which requires a working local installation of CUPS, and an updated version of the CUPS port driver.


ScummVM version 1.4.1 has been released (1/15/2012). This allows you to run several adventure games, provided you have the data files. Games known to work include those based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system, many Sierra SCI and AGI engine games, Legend of Kyrandia, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2, Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1-2, Flight of the Amazon Queen, and lots more. Paul Smedley has released (1/15/2012) an OS/2 port of Python version 2.7.2, as well as a Mercurial 1.0.2 module. There is also another port (1/1/2007) of Python 2.4.4; there are several extensions listed on that site as well. Python is a scripting language that comes from the Unix world. From VOICE News.


ImageMagick version 6.7.4-6 has been ported (1/15/2012) to OS/2. This is a free software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images. It can read, convert and write images in a large variety of formats. From VOICE News.


SafeFire PPP/Links version 1.3 alpha has been updated (1/1/2012). SafeFire PPP/Links supports PPtP, MSCHAP, ISDN, a traffic shaper, an identd server, remote control, and more.


Privoxy (formerly JunkBuster) version 3.0.18 has been released (11/20/2011). This is a web proxy with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting privacy, filtering web page content, managing cookies, controlling access, and removing ads, banners, pop-ups and other obnoxious Internet junk.


solidROC version 12.00.08 has been ported (1/14/2012) to OS/2. This is an OCR application that uses Tesseract to extract text from images, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


Timeset version 1.11 was released on the eComStation Betazone (for Software Subscription customers only). This is a utility for configuring Internet-based time/date synchronization. Thanks to Alex Taylor for the info.


Dave Yeo has released (1/13/2012) a test build of Enigmail 1.4pre, which should work with Thunderbird 9.0 and above, and SeaMonkey 2.6 and above. Also available (7/4/2010) is Enigmail version 1.1.2 for Thunderbird 3.1.x; this allows you to use GnuPG with your email in Thunderbird and/or Seamonkey. There is a tutorial on setting it up.


A fourth build of SMplayer version 0.6.9 has been ported (1/10/2012) to OS/2. This is a GUI frontend for MPlayer, based on the Qt4 graphics toolkit. From OS2World.


Lucide version 1.3.4 beta 2 has been released (1/10/2012); this is a multi-purpose document viewer, using plugins for different formats. It currently supports PDF, DjVu documents, and JPEG files; additional formats can be added by third party programmers. The program is open source, and distributed under the CDDL and LGPL. FM/2 version 3.20 has been released (1/8/2012). This is an open source GUI file manager program, with lots of extra helper utilities. The source code is available from netlabs.org. Thanks to Gregg Young for the info.


More Qt4 apps were ported (1/8/2012) to OS/2, including: Patience version 1.0.0 is a solitaire game; Suqoku version 0.6.2 is a Sudoku game; SunCalculator version 0.9.8 calculates the times for sunrise, sunset, and dawn; Minefield version 0.4.5 is a minesweeper game; QPeriodicTable version 0.5.8 displays a periodic table; and QPass version 1.2.0 is a password manager application.


Domination version 1.1.0.6 has been released (1/8/2012). This is a Java version of the game Risk.


NCurses version 5.9 has been ported (1/8/2012) to OS/2. This is a text-mode programming library from the Unix world.


Qupzilla version 1.1.5 has been ported (1/7/2012) to OS/2; this is a Webkit-based browser, which uses the Qt4 libraries.

More Qt4 apps were ported (1/5/2012) to OS/2, including: Webissues version 1.0 is for issue tracking and team collaboration; TEA version 31.2.0 is a text editor; Qshare version 2.1.2 is an easy to use FTP server with a built-in service discovery feature; FileSynq version 0.1 is a tool for synchronizing two folders; CopyQ version 0.0.1 is a clipboard manager with history; and oragir version 0.1 is a client for the LiveJournal web service.


USB 1.1 Extended Control Driver version 1.2 has beeen released. This driver enables you to directly control USB devices, via an API that conforms to the standard DosRead and DosWrite functions.


Scribus version 1.4.0 has been ported (1/2/2012) to OS/2. This page layout program supports professional publishing features, such as CMYK color, separations, ICC color management and versatile PDF creation. From VOICE News.


DataSeeker version 1.1.0 has been released (1/2/2012). This is a multithreaded PM text and file finder, intended as a replacement for PMSEEK.EXE.


SDLMAME version 0.144 has been ported (1/1/2012) to OS/2. This is an SDL version of the Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator.


Regina REXX version 3.6 has been released (1/1/2012). This is an implementation of the the ANSI Standard REXX Programming Language.


Free Pascal version 2.6.0 has been released (1/1/2012). Free Pascal is a Pascal compiler that is semantically compatible with Borland Turbo Pascal and Borland Delphi.


Paul Smedley has released (1/1/2012) an OS/2 version of GNU Tar version 1.26. It works with long filenames, unlike some earlier ports.


The Intel e1000e driver has been updated to version 0.1.7 on the eComStation Betazone (for Software Subscription customers only); this release adds support for ACPI suspend/resume. The GPL source code (based on the Linux kernel) is available from the MultiMac project site. Also available are the Nvidia nveth driver version 0.1.7, and the Realtek r8110 driver version 0.1.3. Samba server version 1.1.1 has been released (12/31/2011), based on Samba 3.3.16. Also available (12/2/2011) is version 1.2 beta 9, based on Samba 3.5.11. This allows you to share your files without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer). The RxLib4Smb REXX libraries version 1.1.1 (7/6/2011) are also required.


WPA Supplicant version 0.7.3 has been ported (12/31/2011) to OS/2. This is a backend component for controlling the wireless networking connection. An older version is included with XWLan.


Paul Smedley has released (12/31/2011) an OS/2 build of PostgreSQL version 9.0.6. PostgreSQL is an open source relational database.


The ACPI driver has been updated on the eComStation Betazone (for Software Subscription customers only); this is a major new (beta) release, resulting from the work of a new developer. Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) is a replacement for APM, PnP, and related hardware features. It features support for multiprocessor systems (SMP, Dual Core, and HyperThreading), there is an APM driver, and an ACPI Setup tool that replaces the Power object. There is an ACPI Tools web page as well, which includes a battery monitoring widget for XCenter. Future work includes using the HLT instruction, improving suspend/resume support, and Fn function key support for laptops. Thanks to Roderick Klein for the info.


eBackUp version 0.99_2 has been released; the latest version can be found here. This is a backup and restore utility, which uses the RAR32 archiving tool. From OS2.org.


GNU Privacy Guard version 1.4.9 has been ported (12/29/2011) to OS/2; the latest version can be found here. This can be used to encrypt data and to create digital signatures, is a complete and free replacement for PGP, and is compliant with OpenPGP. A popular use of this tool is with Enigmail and Thunderbird.


Dave Yeo has released (12/28/2011) a build of Lightning version 1.1pre; this is a SeaMonkey and Thunderbird extension that provides calendar support. It is compatible with SeaMonkey 2.6.x and Thunderbird 9.0.x builds.


Ghostscript version 9.04 has been ported (12/28/2011) to OS/2. This is an interpreter for the PostScript language, compatible with GSView. From VOICE News.


Links version 2.5 has been released (12/24/2011). Links is a small and fast WWW browser that supports graphics, Javascript, font smoothing, tables and allows for considerable customization of the cache, character set, and more.


ClipWiz version 0.1 Preview has been released (12/24/2011). This clipboard tool allows you to browse previous clipboard contents (history with time stamp), manipulate the clipboard using REXX, and more. The web page is in German, but the program appears to use English text. From OS2.org.


Bzip2 version 1.0.6 has been ported (12/24/2011) to OS/2; another port of version 1.0.6 is available (10/12/2010) from Paul Smedley. This is a block-sorting file compressor, which is comparable to gzip with better compression.


XZ version 5.0.3 has been ported (12/24/2011) to OS/2; another port of version 5.0.3 is available (12/20/2011) from Paul Smedley. This is a general purpose data compression library and command line tools, which create about 30% smaller files than gzip.


Some libraries have been ported (12/24/2011) to OS/2, including: libpng version 1.5.7, the PNG library; jpeglib 8c, the JPEG library; and ZLib version 1.2.5, the compression library.


VLC media player version 1.1.13 has been ported (12/23/2011) to OS/2. This is a highly portable multimedia player and multimedia framework capable of reading most audio and video formats (MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, DivX, MPEG-1, MP3, OGG, AAC) as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.


DFSee version 11.0 has been released (12/21/2011). DFSee is an FDISK, display, analysis and recovery tool for disks and filesystems, including HPFS, NTFS, FAT, JFS, EXT2, EXT3, and ReiserFS. It includes the ability to resize partitions, cloning and imaging, undelete files, and more. There is also a support forum available.


PHPMyAdmin version 3.4.9 has been released (12/21/2011). This is a set of PHP scripts to administer MySQL over the web.


eMozPrint version 1.84T has been released (12/21/2011). This utility scans the desktop for PDF files created by Firefox, Thunderbird or Seamonkey, and prints the files automatically or offers a dialog to print them, using Ghostscript. From OS2.org.


Paul Smedley has ported (12/20/2011) curl version 7.23.1 to OS/2. This is a tool for getting files using URL syntax, with SSL support.


Paul Smedley has released (12/20/2011) an OS/2 port of Squid version 3.0.stable26. Squid offers high performance proxy caching for Web clients supporting FTP, Gopher, and HTTP requests. From VOICE News.


Paul Smedley has ported (12/20/2011) GNU Binutils version 2.21.1a to OS/2. These are tools for compiling and linking programs, and most notably includes 'ld' (not functional on OS/2 yet), and 'as', the GNU assembler.


SmartSVN version 6.6.11 has been released (12/20/2011). This is a Java GUI client for Subversion version control systems, with many features. It does not officially work with OpenJDK, but apparently does function. From OS2World.


Quassel IRC version 0.7.3 has been ported (12/19/2011) to OS/2. This is an IRC client that uses the Qt libraries. From VOICE News.


Paul Smedley has ported (12/19/2011) iii Eye-Fi client to OS/2. This is an application for managing Eye-Fi cards (SD memory cards with Wi-Fi support). From VOICE News.


CMake version 2.8.6 has been ported (12/19/2011) to OS/2. This is a cross-platform, open-source build system.


PM Backup Suite version 0.05.01 has been released (12/19/2011). This is a GUI front end for the "BackEmUp" backup utility, which has also been updated (12/6/2011).


Bubblepad version 1.0.8 has been released (12/18/2011). This is a replacement class for the Launchpad of OS/2 Warp 3 and above. It provides fly over help for all the buttons, and adds some other features. Thanks to Greggory Shaw for the info.


ChatZilla version 0.9.88 has been released (12/18/2011). This is the IRC client that comes with SeaMonkey; it supports SSL and full Unicode nicknames.


GeoGebra version 4.0.16.0 has been released (12/17/2011). This is software for learning and teaching math, from elementary school to university level; it requires Java 1.5 or higher. From OS2World.


Paul Smedley has released (12/17/2011) a port of GCC version 4.4.6. This compiler allows many modern projects to be compiled for OS/2. Also available are earlier ports of GCC 4.5.2 and GCC versions 4.3.x, 4.0.4, and 3.4.6. From VOICE News.


Logical Config.Sys Sort version 0.4.3 has been released (12/16/2011). This sorts the CONFIG.SYS file into logical sections.


ArgoUML verion 0.34 has been released (12/15/2011). This is a UML modelling tool, which requires Java 1.5 or higher. From OS2World.


Buddi version 3.4.0.12 has been released (12/13/2011). This is a personal finance and budgeting program, aimed at those who have little or no financial background. It requires Java 1.5 or higher. From OS2World.


Icon Themes Toolkit version 2.1 has been released (12/7/2011) on the eComstation BetaZone. Also released (12/2/2011) is the Icon Themes applet version 2.1 beta 3. This eCS applet allows the user to change most of the icons used throughout the Workplace Shell desktop. The toolkit is designed to allow the development of new icon themes. From VOICE News.


More Qt4 apps were ported (12/5/2011) to OS/2, including: Clipgrab version 3.1.3.0 allows you to download Flash videos from various web sites, including YouTube; and Flashrip version 0.3 converts YouTube videos to OGG or MP3.


Bridge2-Hi version 1.8 has been released (12/3/2011). This allows you to input Chinese characters into any PM application.


Stendhal version 0.98 has been released (12/2/2011). This is a multi-player online adventure game / MMORPG, which requires Java 1.5 or later.


C.a.R. version 9.7 has been released. This is a Java program that simulates school geometry constructions with a pair of compasses and a straightedge (ruler).


HandyFTP version 1.0 beta 3 has been released (11/24/2011). Some of it's features include: tabbed window layout for easily managing multiple sites simultaneously; FTP and FXP support for local and remote transfers; upload queue for each server pair; no fail support (will not stop until the operation is completed). The latest version can be found via FTP.


4OS2 version 3.08 has been released (11/20/2011). This is a command shell, formerly developed by JPSoft and now open source. There is a mailing list / newsgroup on Gmane.


PM123 version 1.33 has been released (11/17/2011); there is also a new skins package. This is an open source MP3, OGG, WAV, and CD Audio player. Some of the features include sharing of the sound card, playlist with drag/drop support, HTTP streaming, and the use of skins to change the program's look.


PhotoRec and TestDisk version 6.13 have been ported (11/16/2011) to OS/2. PhotoRec is designed to recover lost pictures and other data files from digital camera memory or hard disks. TestDisk is a tool for partition analysis and recovery. Both of these utilities currently only work with image files under OS/2. Thanks to Franz Bakan for the info.


JMCAD version 08.116 has been released (11/16/2011). This is a Java program for the modeling and simulation of complex dynamic systems using block diagrams.


WCD version 5.2.0 has been released (11/13/2011). Wherever Change Directory is a chdir command line utility.


BlueJ version 3.0.6 has been released (11/11/2011). This is an integrated Java environment specifically designed for teaching object orientation; it requires JDK 1.6 (not just the JRE) or later. From OS2World.

TV-Browser version 3.1 has been released (10/28/2011). This program downloads the daily TV programming information, and displays it for viewing; it requires Java 1.6.


qmetro version 0.5.2 has been ported (10/25/2011) to OS/2. This is a tool for viewing maps of city subways, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


GBM version 1.74 has been released (10/24/2011). Generalised Bitmap Module is a library for handling many different bitmap file formats, and is used by applications like Mesa, PM-Raw, and PM-Exif. It includes a PM bitmap viewer and editor, a REXX interface library, and plugins for Lucide and Mozilla. The source code is freely available and released as public domain.


Jetty version 8.0.4 has been released (10/24/2011). This is a web server and javax.servlet container, which requires Java 1.6.


Dwdiff version 2.0 has been ported (10/23/2011) to OS/2. This is a front-end for the diff program that operates at the word level instead of the line level.


LugduloV version 0.6.0 has been ported (10/23/2011) to OS/2. This is a bike sharing application that supports several European cities, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


eComstation Maintenance Tool version 2.2.1.1 has been updated (10/23/2011). This is designed to apply software updates to eComstation.


Moneydance 2011r2 has been released (10/21/2011). This is a Java personal finance application. The OS/2 package can be found here.


Virtual Keyboard/2 version 1.0 has been released (10/20/2011). This displays a keyboard on the screen, allowing you to use the mouse or a touch screen to type.


Kapow version 1.3.4 has been ported (10/19/2011) to OS/2. This is a punch clock program for keeping track of project hours, which uses the QT4 libraries.


Arachnophilia version 5.5 build 2671 has been released (10/17/2011). This is a web page editor and development tool, which requires Java 1.5 or higher.


Some libraries related to reading DVD media have been ported (10/17/2011) to OS/2, including: libdvdread version 4.2.0, which does low level DVD access; and libdvdnav version 4.2.0, which handles DVD navigation, such as menus.


More Qt4 apps were ported (10/16/2011) to OS/2, including: Coquillo version 1.9 is an audio file metadata editor, and Colin is a structural analysis application.


The USB-based monitor for APC Back-UPS CS/ES has been updated (10/14/2011) to version 0.14.1. The web site is in Russian, but there is an English readme file.


Workplace Sans version 0.9 has been released (10/13/2011). This is a Unicode TrueType outline font that is designed to resemble the OS/2 bitmap font WarpSans. Also available is Workplace Gothic version 0.2, a Unicode TrueType outline font with similar proportions to Workplace Sans and WarpSans, but with a rounder, more natural appearance.


Astrolog for OS/2 version 2.0 TP65 has been released (10/12/2011). This is astrology calculation, charting, and analysis software.


SearchPlus version 2.03 has been released (10/11/2011). This tool does simultaneous multiple file searches, including in zip archives. Search criteria can include contents, file size, file date, attributes, and actions can include edit, open, delete, copy, move, execute.


qtrehber version 0.6 has been ported (10/9/2011) to OS/2. This is a phone book app, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


RPL/2 version 4.1.4 has been released (10/7/2011). Reverse Polish Lisp/2 is a programming language that combines aspects of Lisp and Forth.


Nice-OS/2 Enhancer version 5.51 has been released (10/6/2011). This application adds new features to the OS/2 PM interface: extended scrolling, window skinning, keyboard/mouse actions, window positioning, logon scripts, priority management, window list cleaning, text-mode window additions, SSH console control, FireFox & Wiki keys, various patches for OS/2 and Workplace Shell.


kLIBC version 0.6.4 and GCC 3.3.5 CSD4 have been released (10/3/2011). GCC is an open source compiler; features of the OS/2 port include fork() support, symlinks, chroot support, and many new functions. The kLIBC runtime is used by many OS/2 ports of Unix applications, as well as the Mozilla browsers.


CoolReader3 version 3.0.51 has been ported (9/30/2011) to OS/2. This is an eBook reader, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


syncbackup version 1.1.1 has been ported (9/28/2011) to OS/2. This is a front end for rsync, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


FreeCol version 0.10.3 has been released (9/27/2011). This is a turn-based Java strategy game based on the old game Colonization, and similar to Civilization. It requires Java 1.5 or higher.


KDiff3 version 0.9.96 has been ported (9/27/2011) to OS/2. This is a program that compares or merges two or three text input files or directories, shows the differences line by line and character by character, provides an automatic merge-facility, and more. From OS2World.


DjView version 4.8 has been ported (9/27/2011) to OS/2. This Qt4 app is a viewer for DjVu documents, which requires libjpeg and djvulibre, which has been updated (9/26/2011) to version 3.5.24. From OS2World.

TransferMe version 1.02 has been ported (9/18/2011) to OS/2. This Qt4 app is for sharing files over the network.


OS2AHCI version 0.1.4 has been released (9/16/2011). This is a SATA AHCI disk controller driver, and was first available with eComStation 2.1.


WDDBaseViewer has been updated (9/15/2011). This program shows the contents of DBase database files.


CADEMIA version 3.0 RC2 has been released (9/12/2011). This Java app is a modern CAD system with full functionality for civil engineering and architecture. From OS2World.


XPDF version 3.03 has been ported (9/10/2011) to OS/2. This is a tool to convert PDF files to text or Postscript, display PDF file information, or extract images from PDF files.


FluidSynth version 1.1.5 has been ported (9/5/2011) to OS/2. This is a software real-time synthesizer based on the Soundfont 2 specifications.


PMMail/2 version 3.11 has been released. VOICE purchased the rights and source code for this popular email client; VOICE membership is required as part of the registration, but the demo version can be used for one account, and some other limitations. Thanks to Neil Waldhauer for the info.


The Samba command line utilities have been updated (9/2/2011) to version 1.2 beta 9, based on Samba 3.5.11. There is also a Samba port driver version 1.0.1 (7/11/2011) for printing to shared printers.

Paul Smedley has ported CUPS version 1.4.8 (8/31/2011), as well as Gutenprint 5.2.7 (6/12/2011), HP-LIP version 3.10.2 (5/3/2010), Splix version 1.1.1 (12/26/2008), Foomatic version 4.05 (9/26/2010), and foo2qpdl (6/28/2010). Also available (4/10/2009) is a CUPS port driver, which allows interfacing the standard OS/2 printing subsystem with CUPS. CUPS is the Common Unix Printing System; the goal is to improve the printing support in eComStation. AES Crypt version 3.0.5 has been ported (8/20/2011) to OS/2. This tool allows you to easily and securely encrypt files, using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm.


Steve Levine has released a patched version of tcpip32.dll that prevents crashes people have experienced when using the Mozilla apps; it makes this DLL multi-thread and SMP safe. From VOICE News.


AVxCAT (formerly FFMPEGCA) version 1.2.5 has been released (8/11/2011). This is a GUI front-end for ffmpeg and other tools, which allows converting audio and video between formats.


dos2unix and unix2dos version 5.3.1 have been released (8/9/2011). These command line tools convert plain text files from/to DOS and UNIX formats.


eCo Market has been updated (8/7/2011). This is a catalog of software, intended to make it easy to download and install programs packaged in WarpIn format.


BlueNexus reports that NetDrive version 3.1.4 has been released (8/6/2011). NetDrive allows users to mount an FTP site or a local directory or a network resource to a virtual volume. This version has 64-bit file support, and special support for the Samba client from netlabs.org (no shareware timeout). There are also plugins available, including SFTP, NFS, VFAT, and more. eComStation.RU also has a list of plugins.


Iron Spring PL/I beta version 0.9.2a has been released (8/5/2011). This is a compiler for the PL/I programming language, although it is currently missing some features.

MyIP version 0.4 has been released (7/31/2011). This is a simple utility for querying the current system's IP address as seen from the Internet.


The TIFF library version 3.9.5 has been ported (7/31/2011) to OS/2. Included is libtiff, for reading and writing the image files, and some utilities for manipulating TIF image files.


Dynamic Windows version 2.1 has been released (7/30/2011). This is a cross-platform application framework that was designed to make it easy to create dynamic applications with a modern interface, and was modeled after the GTK library. The latest version can be found on netlabs.org FTP.


dcraw version 9.10 has been ported (7/28/2011) to OS/2; version 0.49 of the "vcd" experimental version has also been ported (2/6/2009). This is a digital camera RAW file conversion utility.


PrefBar version 6.0.1 has been released (7/28/2011). It allows you to configure several Mozilla settings on the fly, and incorporates the features of UABar.


WDBasic version 0.10 has been released (7/25/2011). This is a BASIC interpreter built with WDSibyl.


QtCumber version 0.1 has ported (7/25/2011) to OS/2. This is a peer to peer file transfer program, which uses the Qt4 libraries.

QBall version 1.3 has been ported (7/15/2011) to OS/2. This is a simple clone of the game Breakout, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


NASM version 2.09.10 has been released (7/15/2011). The NASM assembler has support for X86 multimedia extensions, and supports a various number of object formats, including the old .obj format of the Borland compilers.


TripleA version 1.3.2.2 has been released (7/15/2011). This is a Java turn-based strategy game, which requires Java 1.6. From OS2World.


FlashBlock version 1.5.15 (for Firefox 3.x and later) and version 1.3.18 (for other Mozilla browsers) have been released (7/8/2011). This is a Mozilla / Firefox extension that replaces Flash animations with a "click to play" placeholder.

The Samba Server GUI Tools have been updated (6/26/2011). Included are SSCC version 1.0.2, SMBUsers version 1.0.0, and SMBMon version 1.9.0. These tools are for server configuration and installation, user and group administration, and status monitoring.


DBCSMAP version 1.5.1 has been released (6/24/2011). This is a character map program for Unicode and selected DBCS codepages (Chinese, Japanese, and Korean). Characters can be copied to the clipboard as codepage-specific text (UTF-8 for Unicode text), and in "text/unicode" format as supported by Mozilla.


PMMaps/2 version 0.6 has been released (6/22/2011). This is a map viewing application, which supports getting map data from several sources.

The "widescreen activators" for Intel and ATI chipsets have been updated (6/12/2011) to version 0.89; these hack the VESA BIOS to support some widescreen modes.


Dave Yeo has released (6/11/2011) an OS/2 build of BlueGriffon version 1.1.1. This is a WYSIWYG website editor, that includes a powerful CSS editor and FTP uploading capability. Former iterations were known as Nvu and KompoZer.


mcroises version 2011.06.09 has been ported (6/9/2011) to OS/2. This app is for helping you solve crossword puzzles, with support for multiple languages, and uses the Qt4 libraries.


Archive Viewer version 2.1 has been released (6/3/2011). This is a GUI tool for viewing and extracting archive files of various types.


GetMyIP version 1.0.9 has been released. This program will retrieve your external IP address which may be dynamically assigned by an ISP.


MatrixCalc version 0.1 has been ported (5/30/2011) to OS/2. This app is a matrices calculator, which uses the Qt4 libraries.

The Java Image Browser Sorter version 2.8.4 has been released (5/28/2011). This program requires Java 1.4.2.


Leminuteur version 2011-5.1 has been ported (5/25/2011) to OS/2. This is a simple timer application that uses the Qt4 libraries.


Zombie WinOS2 Program object version 1.01 has been released (5/25/2011). This is a fix for seamless WinOS2 programs that do not terminate correctly, with optional enhancements for long file names, UNC names for data files, and saving extended attributes.


Screen Capture version 3.00 has been released. These are programs to capture OS/2 and DOS full screen sessions as BMP screen shots; it handles all VGA graphics and text modes.


EmperoarTV version 2.06c has been released (5/23/2011). This software brings support for many DVB cards, as well as the Hauppauge PVR150/250/350/500 TV cards to the OS/2 platform, including high quality MPEG2 hard disk recording and playback. You can listen to FM radio programs in stereo, watch TV programs in excellent image quality, and more. Also available is DVDFront, a front end that simplifies the creation of video DVDs out of recordings made by EmperoarTV. It supports both WarpOverlay and SNAP overlays. There is an online forum for discussion as well.

Philip's Music Writer version 4.22 and Mup version 5.8 have been ported (5/22/2011) to OS/2. These are music publishing and score typesetting programs, full of useful features for musical typesetting, that output high quality Postscript.

SmartCVS version 7.1.5 has been released (5/18/2011). This is a Java CVS GUI client, with features like built-in File Compare/Merge, Transaction display or List Repository Files, and more. It requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.


libdvbpsi version 0.2.0 has been ported (5/17/2011) to OS/2. This is a full MPEG2 client/server multimedia library, used by the VLC media player.


Nconvert version 5.91 has been released (5/12/2011). This is a multi-format image converter that supports more then 300 graphics formats.


lzip version 1.12 has been ported (5/10/2011) to OS/2. This is a lossless file compressor that is almost as fast as gzip, and compresses better than bzip2.


QSubRip version 0.07 has been ported (5/10/2011) to OS/2. This Qt4 program rips subtitles from decrypted DVD's and converts them to text based subtitles.

SQLite Browser version 1.3h has been ported (4/4/2011) to OS/2. This is a visual tool used to create, design and edit database files compatible with SQLite.


A NIC driver for the Marvell Yukon 88E8056 Ethernet chipsets has been released (4/3/2011). This is a patched version of the sk98nd driver, which also enables usage on ACPI systems in APIC mode.


glpeces version 4.1 has been ported (4/1/2011) to OS/2. This is a tangram game with lots of varieties, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


A driver for MCS7830 based USB to Ethernet adapters has been updated (3/31/2011) to version 1.3.


Some developer libraries have been ported (3/31/2011) to OS/2: gettext version 0.18.1.1 helps with internationalization, gperf version 3.0.4 generates perfect hash functions for sets of key words, and libiconv version 1.13.1 is for converting between different multi-lingual character codes.


CPMap version 1.2 has been released (3/30/2011). This is a graphical program that can display a complete character map of any OS/2 codepage (including ones that are not normally displayable).


xsystray version 0.1.1 has been released (3/28/2011). This is an extended system tray widget for XWorkplace, which is used to support system tray functionality in Java applications. Eventually, this will completely replace previous system tray widgets.


FreeType/2 version 1.3.2 has been released (3/28/2011); it is based on version 1.3.1 of the FreeType library. The FreeType/2 TrueType driver replaces the one that comes with OS/2, and provides for better looking TrueType font rendering.


wxWidgets (formerly wxWindows) version 2.8.12 has been released (3/28/2011). This is a sophisticated cross-platform C++ framework for writing advanced GUI applications using (where possible) the native controls.


TexMakerX version 2.1 has been ported (3/28/2011) to OS/2; this QT app is for creating and managing LaTeX documents. It provides modern writing support, like interactive spell checking, code folding, and syntax highlighting.

PhantomJS version 1.0.0 has been ported (3/17/2011) to OS/2. This is a minimalistic headless WebKit, which can be fully scripted using JavaScript. It can be used for site scraping, page capture, etc.


luckybackup version 0.4.5 has been ported (3/14/2011) to OS/2. This is a backup and sync tool, that uses the Qt4 libraries.


SameGame version 1.1.0 has been ported (3/12/2011) to OS/2. This is a puzzle game, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


EasySync version 1.1.2 has been released (3/12/2011). This PM synchronization and backup utility lets you see at a glance what files need to be updated between two directories, whether they reside on the same machine or separate computers on the network. Transfer can be set to bi-directional to fully synchronize two directories, or uni-directional to limit what is updated.

The URW++ core PostScript fonts have been packaged (3/3/2011) for OS/2. Part 1 includes fonts that have no equivalents provided by OS/2: "Century Schoolbook L", "Dingbats", "Nimbus Sans L Condensed", "URW Bookman L", "URW Chancery L", "URW Gothic L" and "URW Palladio L". More QT apps have been ported (3/1/2011) to OS/2 - QtWeb version 3.7 is a web browser with a built-in BitTorrent client, WebMonX version 0.3.3 monitors websites for changes, QChat version 0.3 is a LAN-based chat client, and XQueryEvaluator version 0.5.8.2 is a little editor that helps write XQuery scripts.


DIRtools version 1.16e has been released (3/1/2011). This is three REXX utilities: DELDIR to delete a directory tree, COPYDIR to robustly copy a directory tree, and DIRTREE to sort and display files in a directory tree.


kipcfg version 0.1.1 has been released (3/1/2011). This is a very simple DHCP client that supports multiple interfaces.


Taming Windows 7 version 0.2.1 has been released (2/28/2011). This is a collection of tips on how to adjust Windows 7 (and Vista) to be more friendly to eComStation.


DejaVu fonts version 2.33 have been released (2/27/2011). This is a font family based on the Bitstream Vera Fonts, which provides support for a wide range of Unicode characters.


SANE (Scanner Access Now Easy) version 1.0.22 has been ported (2/26/2011) to OS/2. Many SCSI and USB scanners from Microtek, Epson, HP, Mustek, Umax, and more are known to be working with this package; if yours works and isn't on the list, let Paul know the details. Note that this updated version may not work with Tame/2, the GUI front end.


ffmpegGUI version 1.0 has been ported (2/26/2011) to OS/2. This is a front end for ffmpeg that allows easily setting conversion parameters.


VICE version 2.3 has been released (2/26/2011). This is a versatile Commodore emulator. It uses DIVE and DART, and supports fullscreen mode.

PLCEdit version 2.2.1 has been ported (2/15/2011) to OS/2. This is a programmable logic controller editor for POU files, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


NomNom version 0.1.2 has been ported (2/13/2011) to OS/2. This Qt4 app is for downloading videos from YouTube and other sites that require Flash.


giflib version 4.1.6 and audiofile version 0.2.6 have been ported (2/13/2011) to OS/2. These are libraries for dealing with GIF images and standard audio files.

Agena version 1.3.3 has been released (2/12/2011). This is an interpreted language suited for sophisticated procedural programming, with syntax like simplified Algol 68, with elements taken from Lua and SQL.


Midori Sans version 0.1 has been released (2/11/2011). This is a semi-condensed sans-serif font with styling similar to Frutiger, but narrower and with a taller lowercase height that helps improve readability at small sizes.


MyCinema 20110209 has been ported (2/9/2011) to OS/2. This is a tool for managing your movie collection, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


Bloqus version 1.0.0 has been ported (2/8/2011) to OS/2. This is a polyominos game, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


YourOwnNewsmaker version 1.3 has been ported (2/7/2011) to OS/2; this QT app allows you to convert RSS feeds into PDF files.


HyperText/2 version 2.00 has been released (2/6/2011). This package allows you to easily create OS/2 INF files with only a handful of commands.


Scythia version 0.9.3 has been ported (2/6/2011) to OS/2. This is a simple FTP client, that uses the Qt4 libraries.


JuffEd version 0.8.1 has been ported (2/5/2011) to OS/2; this QT app is a feature rich text editor with syntax highlighting, and is extensible with plugins.

qtDbf version 0.9.3 has been ported (2/3/2011) to OS/2. This is a simple DBF viewer and editor that uses the Qt4 libraries.


EMT4PM version 4.39 has been released (2/1/2011). EMT4PM is a PM utility to build disk images, and write images to disk.


LillePOS version 1.0.1 has been ported (1/24/2011) to OS/2. This is a 'Point Of Sale' application, that uses the QT libraries.


Kalkulon version 3.0.1.4 has been ported (1/23/2011) to OS/2. This is a programmable expression calculator, that uses the Qt4 libraries.


VoiX version 1.0.0 beta 5 has been ported (1/22/2011) to OS/2. This is a voice suppressing program, that can suppress the voice frequency band from a .WAV audio file. It can be used with LAME to work with MP3s.


qPassGen version 1.0 has been ported (1/19/2011) to OS/2. This app generates random secure passwords, and uses the Qt4 libraries.


Personal Cards Manager has been updated (1/18/2011). This enables you to store personal data about your friends, colleagues, and customers in objects on the desktop, offering your contacts in mail and applications.


Vacuum Jabber Instant Messenger version 1.0.2 has been ported (1/16/2011) to OS/2. This is an IM client with support for multiple accounts in one profile, and many other features. From OS2.org.


SOX version 14.2.0 has been ported (1/15/2011) to OS/2. SoX (also known as Sound eXchange) translates sound samples between different file formats, and optionally applies various sound effects. Some of the formats supported are AIFF, AU, PCM, CD-R (music CD format), VOC, WAV, and many others.


eCo Software released (1/15/2011) an AMR codec for MMOS2. AMR is an audio data compression scheme optimized for speech coding, which is used in mobile phones. Apparently, you are forced to download and install the eCo Market application in order to download this codec, and it supposedly requires eCS 2.0, which makes no sense. From VOICE News.


T1 Utils version 1.33 has been ported (1/15/2011) to OS/2. These are some utilities for working with Postscript Type 1 fonts.


Prosit version 1.3.2.1 has been ported (1/13/2011) to OS/2. This is a full-screen basic word processing program based on FocusWriter, which uses the Qt4 libraries.


Arora version 0.11.0b has been ported (1/12/2011) to OS/2. This is a simple WebKit-based web browser, which uses the QT4 libraries.


qTagger version 1.0.1 has been ported (1/11/2011) to OS/2. This is a tool for editing ID3 tags in MP3 files, which uses the QT4 libraries.


Major Major version 1.63 has been released (1/9/2011). It is a mailing list manager for OS/2 that lets you create multiple mailing lists on your machine. From VOICE News.


pdlzip version 1.2 has been ported (1/9/2011) to OS/2. This is a public domain version of the lzip program. Also available (1/5/2011) is lzlib version 1.1, a data compression library providing in-memory LZMA compression and decompression functions, using the lzip format.


Mah Jongg version 1.24 has been updated (1/8/2011). This version of the game features various tile sets and different layouts.


More QT4 games were ported (1/7/2011) to OS/2, including: tasteroids version 0.6.1 is an Asteroids game, and symbolmachine version 1.0 is a casino game like Fruit Machine.


FFMpeg r26099 fix1r2 has been released (1/4/2011). Also available (9/23/2010) is another port of r25157. This is a complete (command line driven) solution to record, convert, and stream audio and video. Note that WarpVision, KMP, and MPlayer all use this library.


EpicView version 0.0.1 has been released (1/1/2011). This is a simple image viewer, which uses the QT4 libraries.
